Mikki Helmer
Author & Ceramics Artist
Mikki Helmer is a former bookseller who studied creative writing at Utah Valley University. Her short stories and poetry have been published in local journals, most notably The Long Walk to Church published in Peculiar: A Queer Literary Magazine. She also works as a sensitivity editor through Salt and Sage Books. In 2020 she took up ceramics and opened Night Craft Co. Since then her pottery has been selling out at local coffee shops, occult cottages, and through her online shop. Her work is inspired by her twenty years of equestrian expertise, Utah's rugged wilderness, and of course, all things speculative.
Her short fiction, poetry, and literature reviews have been published in university journals, queer anthologies, and other online magazines. An #ownvoices author, she resides in central Utah with her two horses and several cats. She is a staunch supporter of LGBT+ rights and the representation of minorities in stories with triumphant endings.
Mikki is also obsessed with tiny houses and built one in 2018. She plans to build another someday soon.
